Null modem cables, also referred to as "crossover" cables, allow two serial devices to communicate with each other without using a modem or other communication device in between. In null modem cables the TXD (Transmit) pin on one device is connected to the RXD (Receive) pin on the other, and vice versa, hence the term crossover.
